1. Agus Set­yarso
LEI MPA Chief, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Emi­nent Per­sons Cham­ber.
img_3715Agus Set­yarso, an expe­ri­enced scholar from Gad­jah Mada Uni­ver­sity is rec­og­nized as an expert in for­est resources man­age­ment in Indone­sia. Cur­rently, aside of work­ing in a donor insti­ture deal­ing with forestry aid pro­grams, he is also the Deputy Chief of National Forestry Board, addresing the syn­ergy prob­lems between the government’s pol­icy and imple­men­ta­tion. His view on nat­ural resources and eco­la­bel cer­ti­fi­ca­tion has called him to lead LEI and to make LEI’s logo more accept­able by both the gov­ern­ment and the market.

2. Haryanto R. Putro
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Emi­nent Per­sons Cham­ber.

Putro, a teach­ing staff of IPB, rep­utable in for­est resources con­ser­va­tion and man­age­ment, he actively sup­ports var­i­ous NGO focus­ing on con­ser­va­tion issues in Indone­sia. His exten­sive expe­ri­ence and knowl­edge on for­est con­ser­va­tion and man­age­ment in Indone­sia sup­port his desire to con­tribute to and lead in becom­ing an orga­ni­za­tion that encour­ages for­est man­age­ment improve­ment in Indonesia.

3. Alex Sangge­nafa
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Com­mu­nity Chamber.

4. H. Siman
ALEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Com­mu­nity Cham­ber.

Siman, a promi­nent fig­ure of for­est farm­ers in Sum­berejo vil­lage who becomes rep­re­sen­ta­tive in LEI MPA, keeps on fight­ing for com­mu­nity forests recog­ni­tion in Wono­giri Regency. Along with his neigh­bors, he encour­ages peo­ple to trans­form the dry lands into hectares of teak wood for­est. This for­est sup­ports 5 sur­round­ing vil­lages in the area by pre­serv­ing source of water in the for­est.
His expe­ri­ences on the life of the com­mu­nity in Wono­giri and other areas, and the ben­e­fit he recieved from for­est con­ser­va­tion has encour­age him to pro­vide more con­tri­bu­tion by pro­vid­ing tra­di­tional yet wise ideas to LEI.

5. Den Upa Rombe­layuk
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Com­mu­nity Cham­ber.
den-upa-2Den Upa Rombe­layuk, a fig­ure from Toraja, is a head of vil­lage in Neng­gala, Toraja, South Sulawesi. Den Upa intro­duces sev­eral inno­va­tion and rebuild tra­di­tional deci­sion mak­ing forums involv­ing women, and spread his idea to all Tora­jan peo­ple through National Alliance of Indige­nous Com­mu­nity. For his works, he is requested to become one of the Ashoka Fel­lows of Ashoka Fel­low­ship, an insti­tu­tion appre­ci­at­ing inno­v­a­tive works in socio-cultural field.
His broad under­stand­ing of indige­nous com­mu­nity lives pat­terns and his wish to expand the empow­er­ment of indige­nous com­mu­nity has lead him to join LEI’s CBO.

6. Arbi Valenti­nus
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Observer Cham­ber.
pak-arbiArbi Valenti­nus, an envi­ron­men­tal activist, has actively join in cam­paings against for­est dam­age due to ille­gal log­ging. His activ­i­ties and achieve­ments are well known through anti ille­gal log­ging cam­paign pro­grams con­ducted by Perkumpu­lan Tela­pak he founded. Cur­rently active as For­est Pol­icy Spe­cial­ist in Orang­utan Con­ser­va­tion Ser­vice Pro­gram (OCSP), he is also the Vice Chair­man of National Forestry Coun­cil. His vision on sus­tain­able for­est man­age­ment ho as lead him con­tribute and lead LEI in achiev­ing its vision and mis­sion.
The wisely man­aged nat­ural resources can be uti­lized through well man­age­ment prac­tices. Eco­la­bel cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­vide recog­ni­tion guar­an­tee ands sup­port to the above wise and good man­age­ment prac­tices. It is impor­tant that eco­la­bel cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­vides and real­izes an equal and bal­anced pri­or­ity for com­mu­nity and small-business sec­tor to man­age envi­ron­men­tal prod­ucts and ser­vices gen­er­ated from bio nat­ural resources (both for­est and non-forest).”

7. Rivani Noor
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Observer Cham­ber.
Rivani Noor, through Com­mu­nity Alliance for Pulp and Paper Advo­cacy voices out mes­sages on pro­mot­ing fair and sus­tain­able for­est man­age­ment prac­tices to HTI (Indus­trial Plan­ta­tion For­est) man­age­ment units, par­tic­u­larly those in Suma­tra. Rivani’s desire to pro­mote fair and sus­tain­able for­est man­age­ment encour­age him to work together with LEI.

8. Pur­wadi Soepri­hanto.
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Busi­ness Cham­ber.
pak-purPur­wadi Soepri­hanto, Pres­i­dent Direc­tor of PT. Finnan­tara Intiga – plan­ta­tion for­est com­pany –located in West Kali­man­tan, has been involved in set­ting up CBO’s orga­ni­za­tional frame dur­ing LEI trans­for­ma­tion period to CBO in 2004. He is sctively par­tic­i­pated in LEI cer­ti­fi­ca­tion sys­tem prepa­ra­tion, par­tic­u­larly in grad­ual cer­ti­fi­ca­tion sys­tem, LOV (Legal Ori­gin Ver­i­fi­ca­tion) and LHV (Legal Har­vest Ver­i­fi­ca­tion). He hopes that the sys­tem he built can become an effec­tive instru­ment to pro­mote sus­tain­able plan­ta­tion for­est man­age­ment and can accom­mo­date the cur­rent changes.
With regards to LEI and eco­la­bel cer­ti­fi­ca­tion, ” LEI becomes a forum to address con­flict of inter­est among stake­hold­ers. The com­pa­nies can suc­cess­fully carry on sus­tain­able busi­ness, while receive appre­ci­a­tion from indige­nous com­mu­nity and con­ser­va­tion­ists. In this way, the com­pa­nies can sur­vive with­out bring­ing dis­ad­van­tage to stake­hold­ers. This is what the com­pa­nies can expect should they join LEI,” . In addi­tion” the busi­ness cham­ber rep­re­sen­ta­tive puts its focus on in encour­ag­ing LEI to receive inter­na­tional recog­ni­tion, because only through this way, cer­ti­fi­ca­tion can become an effec­tive instru­ment to obtain bet­ter incen­tives from the mar­ket.”

9. Dian Nova­rina
ALEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Busi­ness Cham­ber.
img_3699Dian Nova­rina, as Stake­holder Rela­tion Man­ager from PT RAPP keeps on build­ing sus­tain­able rela­tions with the stake­hold­ers. Her good com­mand on sus­tain­able for­est man­age­ment issues is gen­er­ated from the expe­ri­ence and train­ings she under­gone as pro­fes­sional in forestry sec­tor. She is one of the LEAD Fel­low of LEAD pro­gram> LEAD is known to pro­duce highly ded­i­cated per­son­nel to encour­age sus­tain­able devel­op­ment, both in national and inter­na­tional forums.

10. Sae Tanangga Karim.
LEI MPA Mem­ber, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Busi­ness Cham­ber.
img_3714Sae Tanangga Karim, Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Asmindo (Asosi­asi Pen­gusaha Mebel Indone­sia – Indone­sian Meube­lair Pro­duc­ers Asso­ci­a­tion). Posess­ing exten­sive net­work with fur­ni­ture pro­duc­ers both at domes­tic and for­eign lev­els, he often facil­i­tates LEI pro­mo­tion pro­gram pro­mot­ing LEI cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and LEI cer­ti­fied prod­ucts in sev­eral inter­na­tional scale exhi­bi­tion events held by Asmindo. The MoU between LEI and Asmindo has become a good coop­er­a­tion foun­da­tion in sup­port­ing LEI cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­grams pro­mo­tions to the mar­ket, fur­ni­ture pro­duc­ers, and small – medium scale fur­ni­ture industry.
